San Diego, CA — The Gordon & Weiss Vision Institute has announced it will be welcoming Dr. David Schanzlin to form the Gordon Schanzlin New Vision Institute and continue providing procedures in vision correction in San Diego ranging from LASIK and cataract surgery to refractive lens exchange. Drs. Michael Gordon, Jack Weiss, and David Schanzlin say they are excited about the partnership and are confident the new name will continue to stand for the highest quality results and patient care for LASIK and cataract surgery in San Diego.
Formerly the Director of Keratorefractive Surgery at the University of California, San Diego Shiley Eye Center, Dr. Schanzlin has performed over 20,000 refractive procedures in over 26 years as a refractive surgeon and has developed a number of new technologies including Intacs, the excimer laser used in LASIK, and the Femtosecond technology used for bladeless LASIK flap creation. Drs. Gordon and Weiss say Dr. Schanzlin’s experience helps round out their team of LASIK surgeons in San Diego to offer patients a wide variety of vision procedures backed by extensive credentials. The Gordon Weiss Vision Institute, founded in 1993, was the first practice to perform LASIK surgery in San Diego. In the past 30 years, its surgeons have completed over 45,000 refractive procedures. Doctors with the Gordon Schanzlin New Vision Institute have all been trained as Corneal Specialists and Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Drs.
